Yes, so I've officially jumped ship. It was a great 4 years at 1UP.com and I made some really great friends. I wouldn't trade those blogs for anything. But I already did my fond remembrance blog at neojobe.1up.com, so I won't go too much into all that.
I would like to point you guys to my blogroll on the right hand side. I've got a ton of blogs over there, but I may get rid of anything that isn't done by people I don't frequently trade comments with for the people I'm actually in correspondence with.
Well.
I don't know.
It is pretty early out here, 7AM, and I'm just trying to get something posted up so I can feel like this is an actual blog.
The only reason I am up this early is because I had to come home and drop off my dad's car. Mine is still, STILL, in the shop. Apparently, when a car's engine breaks that is bad. Who the fuck knew. I thought you just fed the micro-dinosaurs gasoline to run on the micro treadmills and that made your car go, but I guess the engine must be important also.
LOST
So I'm here and very excited to turn on LOST on my parents big HDTV, and what am I surprised with... a LACK OF LOST!
GRRR!
Not only that, it was a lack of LOST in favor of American fracking Idol. Now, I love American Idol as much as the next misanthrope, but I mean c'mon. So I'm illegally downloading the newest episode of LOST off of the bittorrents.
Which brings me to a point that might give this blog some meaning. Why are the episodes of TV shows not immediately available online after they air. The thing is is that something happened with my DVR the other night and How I Met Your Mother didn't record, so I went to do the same thing as I'm doing now. I tried to download the torrent. It was available, but right after I started it I checked CBS.com and right on the front page was a link to How I Met Your Mother and the episode that aired that very night.
Hey, South Park, this is where that Internet money is. In less than a year Hulu, Joost, and several of the networks video streaming services have skyrocketed. And I have no problem with watching these episodes with commercials, simply because I don't want them to go away and they are instantly accessible with no downloads.
Then why can't I watch LOST online like a minute after it airs?
It just seems like such a missed opportunity on their part. The easier they make it to access the more likely the public will be to watch commercials and help them bring in revenue.
What I've Been Playing
I wrote a review for Lord of the Rings Conquest for the DS on What They Play. It is a thoroughly mediocre game with very few highs. I wouldn't give it much attention unless you are a fan and have the ability to play it multiplayer. Either way, check out the review, especially if you know anyone with kids who might want to get this game for them.
Outside of that I've been playing a lot of Call of Duty: World At War. I don't even know why, I don't like the game nearly as much as I enjoyed CoD4. Left 4 Dead is getting some play time as well.
I think I'll be picking up NHL 09 or Burnout Paradise today.
Bits and Bytes
- My girlfriend has been hired to write reviews for Yelp.com, which is a local area review site. If you are in Columbus and looking for something to do, check out her reviews and give her some positive feedback.
- Jeff Goldbluman Group
- Dustin and I are trying to start a podcast, but all the people we thought would be down don't seem to be... MATT! So if you are interested and can talk about games and have a mic and skype we can do this. You can see what my sample podcast sounds like in my previous post.
- I'm watching the Big Chill to kill the time before LOST finished downloading. It is very good. Lawrence Kasdan wrote and directed this a couple years after he helped write The Empire Strikes Back.
- I have found that my appreciation for Root Beer has grown with time.

FIRST OF THE FIRST.
Woo~ Now I can comment on your blogs! And might I say, the "Comment as" option is convenient.
It would be nice if Jana and Jason started blogging, too. RALLY THE TROOPS.
Oye, either your time settings are off or you are a total dick of a liar. You said it was 7AM, but the timestamp says 3:52.
Okay, I must get ready for work. Bye~
"A total dick of a liar" the name for my Memoirs.
I think my time settings are fucked, I'll take a look at it.
Okay, well. Comments are working again, but only in this pop-out window.
I'll try to see what is wrong with the embedded comment form, but for now this'll have to do!
Beautiful! I had wanted to congratulate you on writing for What they Play!
I've yet to get into Lost... I'm downloading the first season of Mad Men've heard good things. Whoa. What did I DO?! I just mixed the I've and the preceding word! TOGETHER! Top that Niko. TOP THAT!
Yeah, Jana, I try to start the next word before I finish the last one all the time while I'm talking.
Maybe I should try to transfer that to my writing.
Test to see if Jeff fixed the comment field or is his just a dick of a liar.
